This website is run by a small group of people in the Brighton & Hove area who have had – and some still have – Lyme Disease, Chronic Lyme Disease and/or Post Treatment Lyme Disease Syndrome. Be aware that we are not Doctors or medical scientists but have experienced Lyme Disease from the other end of the stethoscope. It is important that you do your own research and not blindly believe what is written here.

In the UK the level of public knowledge about tick-borne diseases is very low, especially compared to North America and many other European countries.  Some GPs and Doctors also have very little knowledge about the disease.  Many of our group have been misdiagnosed several times by different Doctors before finally being correctly diagnosed with Lyme Disease.  Some of our group have been given ineffective treatments for Lyme disease by doctors in the UK.

Lyme disease can affect people very differently, partly because of different strains of the disease as well as many other factors. It is known as a great imitator of other diseases which can make diagnosis difficult.  The possibility of simultaneous co-infections by other tick-borne diseases, such as Babesiosis, Bartonella and Ehrlichiosis, can further complicate diagnosis and treatment.

We aim to:

* Raise general public awareness about Lyme Disease and other tick-borne diseases.

* Share information that we find helpful for diagnosing and curing Lyme disease and other tick-borne diseases.

* Have irregular meetings where we discuss Lyme related matters, such as our conditions, the treatments we have tried and what have been effective strategies for curing and managing our conditions. We also just chat freely.

Please contact us at         brightonlyme@mail.com             if you would like to contact one of our members, attend one of our meetings or would just like more information.
